1 dead, 1 critical in Pomona crash

POMONA - Ice and fog may have been a major factor in a two-vehicle collision that killed one woman and seriously injured another in Ramapo Wednesday morning.

Police say the accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on Route 202 near the junction of Route 306.

Police believe that a Dodge minivan carrying one man and two women crossed the double yellow line after striking black ice and was T-boned by an Acura sedan carrying three men.

One of the women was killed as a result of the crash. The other woman is in critical at Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the woman who died.

Officials say two of the men in the sedan, Luis Lopez-Martinez and Honiel Capellan, were taken to a local hospital and released. News 12 was told a third man, Oscar Capellan, was transferred from Nyack Hospital to another facility.
