WOODBURY - A multi-vehicle crash on the New York State Thruway resulted in the death of one person and injured six others.

Police say four passenger cars, two trucks and a New York State Thruway plow truck were all involved in the accident on the northbound side of I-87 just north of Woodbury tolls at around 10:45 a.m.

The six injured were taken by ambulance to local hospitals with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

For three hours, all northbound lanes were blocked off on I-87 near mile marker 40. The highway was fully reopened just after 3 p.m.

Investigators say it is unclear what caused the accident.
