1 hurt in New Hampton car-into-building crash
An out-of-control car crashed into a repair shop in New Hampton yesterday, sending the driver to the hospital.
Officials say the accident happened at about 9:30 a.m. when a woman from Goshen allegedly drove through a stop sign on Route 50 and cut in front of a dump truck, sending her SUV flying into a lawnmower repair shop. The impact caused gas lines to rupture, raising concerns of an explosion.
Crews stabilized the building and shut off the gas lines. Officials say there was no danger to those who live nearby.
The driver was extracted from her vehicle and taken to Orange County Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.
