Authorities seized more than $1 million worth of cocaine in an eight-month investigation by Clifton police and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials called it “Operation Snow” because they confiscated 30 kilos of the drug with a street value of $1.5 million.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office announced three arrests connected to the case at a news conference Wednesday morning. Kiuny Perez, 40, Victor Pimentel, 42, and Naricisco Ramirez, 44, are all facing a variety of drug charges. Officials say that Pimentel had 25 of the 30 kilos of drugs confiscated from his home.
Police also seized more than $872,000 in cash and nine vehicles, including a Maserati.
Investigators say that the drugs had been spread out all over northern New Jersey. The bust is the latest component in an all-out fight against drugs and drug addiction in the Garden State.
Passaic County officials say that 53 fatal drugs overdoses have been reported in the county this year.
"Overdoses have resulted, from cocaine alone, 8 percent.  Heroin by itself, 4 percent,” says Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdez. “Heroin and cocaine mixed, 4 percent…And not surprisingly, a combination of fentanyl and heroin represent 21 percent of the overdoses that we've had.”
Valdez says that an additional bust of $1 million worth of cocaine is expected in the near future.
