A man and woman are being charged with burglary, larceny and possession of stolen property after police say they robbed the home of a friend that just passed away.
Richard Serpico, 33, died after his motorcycle crashed on the causeway over Lake DeForest late last Friday night.
Police say Ivan Murat and Paula Izurieta, both friends of Serpico, then broke into his home and stole almost everything in it. Authorities say they even took clothes, linens and the bathroom scale.
Serpico was also transporting a passenger when the accident happened. He is still currently hospitalized with head and chest injuries.
Serpico's neighbors say they were stunned to hear the events that followed his death.
