2-alarm inferno lights up downtown Spring Valley
Several families were forced from their homes by a fast-moving fire on busy Main Street in downtown Spring Valley Tuesday night.
Firefighters initially believed the fire started at 19 North Main St., but have determined the source to be at 23 North Main St.
Emergency crews were met with thick smoke billowing from the buildings when they first arrived around 9 p.m. last night.
Nearly 20 people were in the building when the fire first started, but everyone was able to make it out safely.
A large portion of Main Street, which is a mix of homes and businesses, had to be shut down while crews evacuated neighboring structures.
Investigators are still trying to determine whether the fire was accidental or suspicious.
