TUXEDO - Two brush fires burning along Route 17 in Tuxedo have been extinguished, but caused a large traffic snarl.

Firefighters from across Rockland and Orange counties were called to the scene and the blazes were brought under control around 1 p.m.

Traffic was backed up on the north and southbound lanes of Route 17 for an extended period as a result.
