A second dead dog was found in the Hudson River Wednesday night, almost a week after police say the first was found.
Erin Talarico says she found the dog, stuffed inside a blue vinyl laundry bag, floating in the Hudson River in a secluded part of the Newburgh Waterfront on Front Street. Police say another dog was found nearby in the water last Friday.
Talarico believes the dog she found was part of an underground dogfighting ring. She says there are rumors that dogs who lose fights are drowned in the river. Newburgh police say dogfighting is a problem in the city, but are not certain yet if this is a case of animal cruelty.
Anyone with information is asked to call the City of Newburgh police.
