Love, prayers, and great memories are being shared far and wide from the Hudson Valley to Boston after a former Rockland County star athlete passed away suddenly over the weekend.
Those who knew Madie Nicpon, of Suffern, say she had a bubbly personality, was generous with her time and never failed to put a smile on everyone's face.
The 20-year-old choked to death over the weekend - reportedly during a charity hot dog eating contest - off campus at Tufts University where she went to school.
She was majoring in pre-med to become a pediatrician and also played on the women's lacrosse team.
The 2019 Suffern High School graduate was a three-sport athlete, her grade's class president, excelled in the classroom and was involved in a ton of charitable work.
News 12 spoke with her former varsity lacrosse coach about the impact she made on this community.
"She was charismatic, outgoing, and she was tough,” says Suffern women’s lacrosse coach John Callanan.
A GoFundMe has already raised over $150,000.
