3 arrested on counterfeit cash charges
Haverstraw police arrested three men from Queens Tuesday for allegedly being in possession of $3,400 in counterfeit $100 bills.
According to authorities, Edgard Duche, 23, Frank Vanegas, 23 and Giovanni Echaverry, 31, were on their way to Woodbury Commons when their vehicle was stopped by police for traffic violations in Orangetown. That is when investigators say they found the counterfeit cash, as well as $ 4,753 in U.S. currency.
All three suspects were charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. Vanegas also had an outstanding warrant for criminal possession of a weapon.
The trio was sent to Rockland County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000.
