A long-standing bridge in New Rochelle is getting replaced.
Construction will begin on the North Avenue Bridge that goes over I-95 on Jan. 23.
Preparations are already underway for the $32 million project, and  work will take three years to complete.
The bridge was built in 1958. It is one of the most heavily traveled intersections in the city.
"When it's completed, traffic flow will be enhanced, there will be pedestrian features, better lighting, better signage, better fencing," said New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson.
There will be one lane going in each direction during construction, but there will be detour signs to help avoid any major backups.
