The Orange County family of a Virginia Tech massacre victim is preparing for a 5K race being held in her honor.
Caitlin Hammaren was among 32 victims killed in the 2007 college shooting. The first annual 5-K-4 Caitlin will be held Saturday.
The 5K begins and ends at the Applewood Winery in Warwick. Family members say the race is a way to keep her spirit alive.
All proceeds will go toward annual scholarships for local students with similar passions to Hammaren. Before her death, the teenager was studying International Studies and French at Virginia Tech.
