NEW CITY - Six teens, including several current and former Clarkstown North football players, have been charged with attacking four students from a neighboring school.

Police say around 15 teenagers, wielding baseball bats and at least one switchblade, confronted students from Nanuet High School last Saturday. They say the fight began after it was rumored that a Nanuet student had previously targeted a student from Clarkstown North.

Five current and former Clarkstown North students were arrested, as was a football player from New Jersey. Charges faced by the group include felony attempted assault, gang assault and weapons possession.

Four Nanuet students were injured in the incident, though none seriously.

The suspects were released without bail to their parents and are due back in Clarkstown Justice Court on Jan. 30.
