A firefighter had a minor injury Tuesday after battling the flames at a quarry in Rockland County.
First responders said there weren't any hydrants in the immediate area of the Tilcon facility in Haverstraw, so they relied on a massive team effort to fill two 9,000-gallon tankers.
Investigators said the fire started along a conveyor belt that brings materials up into a crusher tower. Officials said that the tower is a total loss.
The smoke was so thick that people saw it from parts of Rockland and across the Hudson River in northwest Westchester County.
A Tilcon spokesperson said all of the employees are safe and accounted for.
