Most of the state right now, including Westchester, is under the second-highest fire danger level, per the Department of Environmental Conservation.
The county's Department of Emergency Services says there's been an increase in brush fires this past week.
News 12's Veronica Jean Seltzer has tips on how to prevent fires and keep you safe, including:
-Keep grills away from houses, steep slopes and anything that could burn easily.
-Let coals cool completely before throwing them out in a metal container.
-Always have a garden hose or water bucket near any fire pit.
-Think vertically: Make sure there isn't a covered patio or tree branch above a fire pit.
