Animals recovering after being rescued from Cornwall home
Rescuers say they saved the lives of a dozen animals in deplorable conditions in Cornwall.
Officials say their owner, 53-year-old Mathea Rubin, kept eight dogs and six cats inside her deceased mother's home on Route 9W for years without heat, hot water or electricity.
Officials say the conditions contributed to the death of two cats that were found dead inside plastic garbage bags.
Despite their ordeal, officials say the animals rescued are in good health. They are asking for help to cover their care until they can find new homes.
While the cats have already been adopted, the dogs are in need of new homes.
Rubin is due in court next month on multiple animal neglect and abandonment charges.
