Indian Point conducted another four-county test of its emergency siren system Wednesday and found some of the sirens failed again.The plant?s back-up system uses radio frequencies to trigger emergency sirens in Westchester, Putnam, Orange and Rockland counties. Officials in the four counties around the plant claim a total of 19 of the 156 sirens never went off. However, officials from Entergy, which owns Indian Point, say only two failed.Wednesday?s test comes a few weeks after the same system failed twice in one week. The sirens are used in case there is an emergency at the plant or in the counties. Entergy says it could take up to two years to replace the siren system, but it is working to speed up the process.
