WALLKILL - Domestic violence experts hope to raise awareness of the warning signs of abuse after an apparent murder-suicide in Wallkill.

Michael LeRoy, 49, allegedly killed his wife, D'Ann LeRoy, 46, with a rifle, before turning the gun on himself Tuesday night.

Neighbors say they frequently heard loud arguments coming from the couple's home on Anthony Street in Wallkill. Family members say D'Ann LeRoy was trying to leave her husband.

Experts say what allegedly happened to D'Ann LeRoy was a dangerous pattern of abuse.  They say they want the tragedy to shed light on the warning signs of domestic abuse. Those warning signs include unexpected injuries, calling in sick to work and showing up late to work.
