Archbishop visits Brook Avenue school

Students at Saints Peter and Paul School on Brook Avenue welcomed New York's new Archbishop Timothy Dolan Tuesday.
Children in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade greeted Dolan with balloons and hugs as he made his way through the Bronx Catholic school. During first period, the archbishop challenged the school principal to a game of tug and war in gym class, while students looked on. Dolan was also invited to a special music performance by the pre-kindergarteners in the library.
According to the school principal, Saints Peter and Paul earned the excellence award last academic year. The principal says the school is also ethnically diverse and nearly 50 percent of the 353 students attend the school on scholarship.
