Arlington High School went into emergency protocols after a student went into crisis on Friday. 

The incident occurred toward the end of the school day, at around 2 p.m.

A hold in place meant students had to stay where they were and weren't allowed to move around the school. 

The superintendent says they issued the hold in place to keep students away from the area where the incident was happening.

The  restriction was lifted after about 10 minutes.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office say the student who was in crisis voluntarily went to the hospital to be evaluated.

A spokesman for the sheriff's office says the student became disorderly, and had to be restrained.

Several students told News 12 they weren't sure what happened. After a few minutes, they say they went outside and saw emergency vehicles everywhere.

The superintendent says many of those vehicles were responding to an unrelated car crash in front of the school around the same time.

He offered no other details about what happened inside.
