Armed robbers hold up Verizon retailer store in Thornwood
Two armed men held up a Verizon retailer store in Thornwood Wednesday morning, according to officials.
Police say two men wearing masks robbed the store at Rose Hill Shopping Center at 660 Columbus Ave. around 10:30 a.m.
Officials say that the armed men forced a pregnant store employee into the back of the store and then made off with as many cellphones and devices as they could carry out.
Both fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan.
Investigators say the robbery is similar to one at the Tarrytown Verizon store last month.
Schools in the area, including Columbus Elementary and Westlake middle and high schools, were placed on lockout for 90 minutes.
