Police believe a New York City man may be responsible for the recent string of bank robberies in Westchester.
Detectives from Yonkers and Greenburgh tracked 31-year-old Shawn Killeen to Queens, where he was arrested Thursday. Killeen is charged with last Friday?s robbery of the Apple Bank for Savings in Greenburgh. Killen is the prime suspect in the December 7 robbery of the Chase Bank on Central Avenue and the Chase Branch robbery on North Broadway on December 16, both in Yonkers. He just finished serving time for a previous conviction in Orange County.
Yonkers police have turned over their investigation into the robberies to the FBI. The FBI is also looking into tying Killeen to other cases as well. Killeen will appear in court on January 11.
