Authorities: Raids net arrests of 15 accused mobsters
A sweeping raid early Wednesday morning led to the arrests of 15 alleged Mafia members and associates, six of them from Westchester, according to authorities.
The suspects, allegedly linked to the Lucchese crime family, face various charges including wire fraud, weapons or narcotics possession and murder. Four others linked to the same operation were also arrested at earlier times, including the alleged street boss of the family, Matthew Madonna.
Together, they all range in age from 33 to 83. Dominic Truscello, the oldest of the suspects, said nothing to News 12 cameras as he left court.
Steven Crea, the 69-year-old alleged underboss who resides in Crestwood, and his 45-year-old son of the same name, who lives in New Rochelle, are accused of being co-conspirators in the 2013 slaying of Michael Medlish. They were both denied bail.
According to investigators, Medlish was executed while sitting in his car.
Paul Cassano, 38, of Yonkers, was also remanded without bail for allegedly attempting to kill another mobster in 2012.
The three other Westchester natives were released on bond. All of them are due back in court Thursday.
