Baby Jesus stolen from town hall nativity scene
The baby Jesus statue from a local town hall?s nativity scene has been stolen from its crib in what many fear is a practical joke.
The statue was taken Sunday night from Stony Point Town Hall?s nativity scene. However, this isn?t the first holiday prank to hit the town. Just one year ago, the same town hall?s $900 Hanukkah menorah was snapped in half. The vandals were never caught.
Town Supervisor Phil Marino says the holiday pranks are a complete disregard for what many people hold dear. ?If someone thinks that this is funny, it?s not,? he says. ?It is not appropriate in any manner, shape or form.?
Stony Point police are investigating, but have no leads. They have also upped security around the nativity and menorah scenes outside the town hall.
Marino says the town just wants the baby Jesus back. He says if the statue is returned, the town will simply accept the baby, no questions asked.
