With about a half-dozen bear sightings in Pomona in the past two weeks, residents say they aren?t taking any chances.
A black bear was spotted in the area about a week ago. Another bear was spotted Thursday in a back yard that borders Harriman State Park. The bear roamed around for a few minutes behind the house and then it took off across Call Hollow Road.
Police say at this is the time of year people in the mountainous area of Pomona need to be alert. Police also recommend that residents keep garbage secure to not attract bears.
