YONKERS - The Charter School of Educational Excellence in Yonkers has been infested with bed bugs.

Administrators tell News 12 the bugs were found by a teacher on Monday and an exterminator was just contacted Tuesday.

They say students were kept in class during the infestation. Parents say they were not warned of the findings until Wednesday. Administrators believe the bed bug problem was not large enough to warrant the cancellation of class.

Exterminators are working to mitigate the problem before Thursday, while school Chairman Eduardo Laguerre works to find out where the bugs come from.

The cleanup was expected to be complete by Wednesday night.
