A Suffern detective recovered two statues stolen from nativity scenes thanks to some bizarre notes.
The Walsh family was leaving to go to Christmas Mass when it noticed the baby Jesus statue was missing from its nativity scene. Police say the thief left a note in place of the statue that read, ?baby Jesus didn't graduate high school.? They say the note was signed ?The Opiates.? Police say another baby Jesus statue was taken from a nativity scene located a block away from the Walsh?s house. The same note was left in the manger.
A detective thought to check out Suffern High School and found the two statues underneath a sign at the entrance to the school. The detective returned the statues to their owners Tuesday. Police aren't sure who swiped the statues or what the notes meant.
