Drivers in Orange County were urged to be extra careful on the roads Tuesday because of the wet, slippery conditions.
Police say the weather was a factor in a number of accidents, including one along Neversink Drive in Deerpark at around 9:30 a.m. Police say two victims were in a SUV that lost control and crashed into rocks. The driver and passenger are expected to be OK.
Also in Deerpark, a van smashed into a utility pole on Route 209 between County 61 and Oakland Valley Road at around 4 a.m. While there were no serious injuries, dozens of homes along Route 209 lost power.
Orange and Rockland Utilities says the outages on its end have been restored. Unfortunately for the family near the crash site, the electrical surge also damaged their panel and they're expecting to be without power for days until they can get it repaired.
