A new empanada company in the Bronx is putting a modern spin on the classic Puerto Rican empanaderia.
Empanology on Third Avenue in Mott Haven is the brain child of Jason Alicea, who developed his passion for food at an early age
The Bronx native says as a child he would watch his grandmother cook before he began folding his own empanadas with his mother.
What sets Empanology apart from other restaurants is their creative empanada fillings, flavors and ingredients.
After opening in July, Alicea and his wife Ruby say their restaurant has become a meeting place for friends, family and even local artists.
