The illegal activity that once lured thousands of Bronxites to festivities known as La Playita may be over thanks to police crackdowns, but a new $7 million park could soon draw crowds to the area again.Community board members are now gearing up to bring life back to Veile Avenue in Hunts Point, the location of former La Playita fun. Vendors are getting licensed to distribute food and drink in the area and board members say they?re working on creating a weekly block party for locals.The new park will include an amphitheatre, waterfront walking paths and a beach.
