Budget crisis may spell disaster for road projects
State funding for road construction projects throughout the Hudson Valley may be in jeopardy after lawmakers failed to pass a state budget Wednesday night.
State DOT workers say they still have a "green light" to continue working on several projects, but that could change.
An austerity budget went into effect after the budget deadline was missed, leaving the fate of projects not funded by stimulus money up to private contractors.
In Haverstraw, Ecco 3 continued work on its $30 million construction project along Short Clove Road and Route 9W Friday, despite lack of payments from the state.
?The contractor said he is going to continue for a while anyway,? says Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut.
