Building inspector accused of sex crime at City Hall
A building inspector just shy of retirement landed in jail Thursday on charges he forcibly touched a female employee at Chestnut Ridge City Hall.
According to police, 77-year-old Donald Grosso grabbed a female employee from behind and fondled her breasts. Police say the alleged incident occurred in March, but the victim didn?t report it until this week.
Grosso says he has nothing to hide and the truth will come out in court. Chestnut Ridge Mayor Jerry Kobre says as soon as he found out about the situation he made sure Grosso would not be coming back to City Hall. Grosso is currently working from home. He submitted his intent to retire in May and is training a new building inspector who could take over as early as next month.
Grosso was arraigned Thursday and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court next week.
