Members of a Bronx community say they?re worried that their homes may be sinking due to the combination of underground sewer lines and heavy rainfall.

The residents of Kingsland Avenue say the sewer lines have been causing dangerous and costly problems for decades.

Neighbors say a sinkhole swallowed a van with two people inside in the 90s and another one opened up in front of a home weeks ago.

?It was an eyesore. I mean, I had to secure it because no one came to secure it. It was dangerous for cars, dangerous for children,? Kathy Dispenza said. Dispenza says the pit was more than 10 feet long.

Environmental officials say they are aware of complaints. Residents say the city is responding but using quick fixes instead of long-term solutions.
