A Mott Haven woman who suffers from asthma and arthritis is pleading with her landlord to repair the broken elevator that she says has been broken for weeks.
Rosa Serrano says she is nearly trapped in her apartment because she can barely walk and has no way to get out of her building.
Adding to the trouble, she says the building intercom is broken, meaning she has to struggle down the stairs to let guests in.
The building's super says that corroded cables forced the shutdown of the elevator.
The New York City Department of Buildings says it is investigating the issue and says that the elevator should be repaired within a week.
