Candidates in state Senate races make final push
With Election Day fast approaching, Hudson Valley residents will be keeping their eye on two integral state Senate races.
In the 96th state Senate District, which covers parts of Orange and Rockland counties, incumbent Republican Nancy Calhoun shook hands and handed out pamphlets Monday that tout her 18-year record.
Calhoun is being challenged by Democrat Richard Randazzo, who spent the day greeting residents. He says property tax reform is a top priority.
In the 97th District, which also covers Orange and Rockland counties, Republican incumbent Annie Rabbitt says she is confident her record of service the past two terms speaks for itself.
Rabbitt's challenger, Democrat Jerome Sommer, says he was up at 5 a.m. to make get-out-the-vote phone calls.
Each of the candidates told News 12 Hudson Valley how excited people were to cast their votes.
