An Orange County homeowner says his home surveillance system woke him up to alert him to an apparent attempted break-in Saturday.
Jack Gardner says he was woken up at 4 a.m. when his Ring doorbell sent him an alert on his iPad that someone was on his front porch on Neptune Drive in Monroe.
"You try to think good things. Maybe somebody's in trouble. But then you notice in the video - he came back and then he tries the door,” says the 66-year-old.

Gardner says he witnessed live from his device as someone appears to look through his windows and tries to open his front door.
"I think he was casing it. The alarming part was even with two cars in the driveway and the lights on, he still chose to check that door,” says Gardner.

Gardner says a motion detector turned on his first-floor lights, but the man stayed.
The homeowner called police but by the time they got there, it was too late.
State police say no crime was technically committed in this case but that neighbors may want to take a good look at that video and be on the lookout.
Authorities say this is the second report of an attempted break-in in Monroe within recent weeks. They say the incidents do not appear to be related.
