Supporters of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris took to the streets in cities across the U.S. to celebrate their election win, including in Wilmington, Delaware, where the Biden campaign is headquartered.
Thousands of people erupted in cheers when Biden trotted up to the podium after Harris introduced him before his speech Saturday night.
During the address, Biden said that he would work equally as hard for both those who voted for him and those who did not.
Those who attended the event say it was important for them to witness the historic night.
"In November of '16 the country fell in a ditch and we just came out of the ditch," one man said. "And it's a good sign that democracy is alive and well in this country."
One woman in the crowd says she grew up down the street from Biden and couldn't believe he was the president-elect.
