Chester Academy principal, counselor reinstated
The Chester school board announced at a hearing Wednesday that the principal and a school psychologist of Chester Academy are no longer suspended, and there will be no more disciplinary hearings.
The decision comes after police and the state Department of Education cleared the two of any wrongdoing.
Principal Ernie Jackson and a school counselor had gone to the home of two students who had called out sick, allegedly to make sure they were actually ill. An angry father lodged a complaint with the district, and the two were placed on administrative leave.
Jackson?s wife read a statement and thanked supporters at the hearing where the announcement was made. The principal himself was not in attendance.
