Children across Westchester who take part in school lunch programs can get those meals to go since schools are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

White Plains High School is offering "grab and go" meals for students and families in need. Officials say thousands of students participate in the county's free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs.

The meals are being distributed at various schools. Melissa Rodriguez, who stopped by the high school to get meals for her younger siblings, says that it's nice to see the community supporting the students in a time of crisis.

School officials say they will continue with the free food distribution program as long as it's needed.

Melanie Monteleone, the food service manager at White Plains High School, says the food is available to all students in the district who want it, and not just those who are part of the free lunch program.
