Seventeen employees of the Goshen Christian Academy are suddenly without a job three weeks before the semester was supposed to begin.
The school says that due to declining enrollment and a $700,000 budget shortfall they are forced to cancel the fall semester.
Students who were enrolled in the academy are being sent to Harmony Christian School in Wallkill.
The school says it is looking at merging with Harmony Christian School for the following school year.
They note, however, that few, if any of the current staff at Goshen Christian Academy will be rehired if the merger does happen.
