Church members march to honor fallen NYPD Detective Mulkeen

About 100 church members held a march Sunday afternoon to honor the life of NYPD Detective Brian Mulkeen, who was killed by friendly fire during a struggle with a suspect in the Bronx last weekend.
The church members marched from their place of worship in Williamsbridge to the 47th Precinct in Edenwald, where a bunting for Mulkeen still hangs. Organizers say the march was also to pray for the protection of officers in the precinct and in the community.
After the nearly 1-mile walk, participants gathered outside of the precinct to pray. They also had the opportunity to hug and embrace officers to show their support.
Mulkeen was not assigned to the precinct, instead serving with the Anti-Crime Unit in the Bronx. But he was killed at the Edenwald Houses, which are just across the street.
Bishop Lloyd Blake, senior pastor of Gospel Assembly Church of Jesus Christ, says officers in the community have helped their church over the years, and this is just one way to give back.
"They risk their lives every day to protect us," says Blake.
