New barriers will go around the Yonkers veterans Memorial.
Yonkers police will be installing the barriers following an influx of demonstrations nationwide about the Israel- Hamas war.
Mayor Mike Spano took to social media site, 'X,' previously known as Twitter, to make the announcement.
The decision was made out of an abundance of caution to keep the memorial intact and prevent potential vandalism, according to Spano.
Yonkers police will close off the stairs leading to the memorial.
