Clarkstown police have broken up what they say is a car theft ring that was targeting vehicles at the Palisades Center.
Police were responding to a report of stolen cars from the mall Monday night. After a chase ensued, police arrested three New Jersey men and a 15-year-old boy on charges of stealing cars. Police say one of the suspects is accused of hiring two other adults and a juvenile to steal cars.
Police say the stolen cars were taken to a chop shop in Newark, New Jersey, where the car parts would be removed and sold. The investigation is continuing to see if the group is responsible for five other recent car thefts at the Palisades Center.
