It's the first Fourth of July since the pandemic has winded down, and people in Dobbs Ferry are heading out to enjoy the day.

For most, it's the first time since the pandemic that they have been able to enjoy the holiday with friends and family at the waterfront.

"It's some sort of normalcy, coming back to normal and hopefully it stays like this past the summer," says resident Kristen Scaramella.

For others, it is also a time to perfect their pitching skills, read a book outdoors or enjoy a barbecue feast fit for a king.

"For the past year and a half with everybody else, we haven't really been able to see anybody, and so this is truly our first time that we've been able have this big of a friends and family get-together, we're outdoors," says resident Mira Pandya.

For some, this year's Fourth of July is a reminder of what is most important.

"I'm proud to be an American, absolutely, absolutely! They sang the National Anthem earlier, and everybody stood, and it was very moving to me," says Maria Ingani, of Scarsdale.

News 12 was told that there will not be any fireworks tonight at Waterfront Park, but that is not curbing the enthusiasm of revelers from enjoying the summer weather and get-togethers in the village.
