A Rockland County company is facing fines over $70,000 stemming from a fatal Orange County trench collapse in March 2021.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is taking action against AMEREX Construction and its successors.
A 43-year-old worker died when a trench collapsed on him while working in the Woodbury Villas, a development in Central Valley.
The construction worker was digging a 10-foot ditch without a trench safety box in place when the walls of the trench collapsed, burying him.
