Construction worker dies in trench collapse at Mamaroneck home

A construction worker died in a trench collapse at a home in the Village Mamaroneck Tuesday.
News 12 has learned that the worker who died has been been identified was from Stamford, Connecticut.
Police say he was trapped, buried by dirt in the trench believed to be 10 feet deep.
Chopper 12 was over the scene of the collapse on Shore Acres Drive.
There is no word on how the collapse happened.
Experts say a trench collapse happens for a number of reasons, including wet weather and vibrations from nearby construction equipment or lack of support along trench walls.
OSHA has sent someone to the scene and has begun an investigation.
