Cops continue probe into Yorktown man's death
Yorktown police say that a man found shot to death in his home was likely murdered sometime between the hours of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. yesterday as an investigation into the circumstances of his death continues.
The body of Piotr Seweryn, 43, was discovered by his wife in the basement of their home around 1 p.m. yesterday after she came home from work. Investigators say Seweryn's wounds do not appear to be self-inflicted, and they are treating his death as a homicide.
"There was no forced entry, and nothing was taken from the residence," Yorktown Police Lt. Kevin Soravilla said. "At this time, we feel that he was basically targeted."
Neighbors say Seweryn was like family to them, and was the kind of person who would do anything to help a friend or neighbor. He is survived by his wife and two children.
