While Halloween celebrates all that's scary, state police are cracking down on holiday tricks that can lead to real-life horrors. Troop T and volunteer CB operators are conducting pumpkin patrols on both the New York State Thruway and Interstate 84. They'll be on the lookout for dangerous pranks such as pumpkins being dropped from overpasses. Police will also be out in high-volume neighborhoods that are hot spots for Halloween vandals. Despite potential dangers, some children will take the traditional route of trick-or-treating door-to-door on Halloween. City officials encourage parents to take common-sense precautions and keep in mind the citywide curfew. When the clock strikes 9 p.m. on both October 30th and 31st, minors 16 and under are required to be off the streets.
