A man with a machete was threatening to kill people on Lafayette Avenue in New Rochelle.

NEW ROCHELLE - An machete-wielding man was arrested in New Rochelle this morning.

Police say they got reports of a man with a machete breaking windows and threatening to kill people shortly after 7:00 a.m. today.

Cops say the suspect ran into the apartment building where he lives at 2 Lafayette Ave. He was arrested after 8 a.m. in his second-floor apartment. Police recovered a machete a short time later. Police have not said why the man was angry, but suspect alcohol was involved.

No injuries were reported.
