Couple accused of stealing from mall with kids in tow
Clarkstown police say they busted a couple trying to rip off stores at the Palisades Center Mall with three kids in tow.
According to police, the staff at a JCPenney store at the mall observed and stopped a couple who they said had been shoplifting. Police say Julissa Rodriguez and Kervin Puello had about $1,400 of bedding and assorted merchandise. The couple, who are in their 30s, were with a 14-year-old girl and two 4-year-old boys. Police say the teenage girl was also found with stolen merchandise.
Clarkstown police say a search of the couple?s car netted more stolen goods from other stores. They say duo also had Social Security and credit cards with false names on them.
Both Rodriguez and Puello are facing a number of charges including endangering the welfare of a child, grand larceny and possession of forged documents. The children have been turned over to a family member and the 14-year-old girl will appear in family court.
